This pheromone is released from the breast area and is detected from the environment through an area close to the nose. This pheromone has a strong soothing effect on kittens, helping to maintain the bond between kittens and their mothers. Cat calming pheromone has been shown to have the same bonding effect on adult cats living in multi-cat environments. Feliway® Friends is species specific and can only be detected by cats and has the same meaning for all cats. It has no calming effect on people or other animals in the home. Feliway® Friends is not a sedative or tranquilizer.
